Massage the oil into your knees and elbows for a few minutes. Leave it on for an hour. Wash it off with water. Repeat daily until you see results.

Turmeric , Honey And Milk

Turmeric has antiseptic properties and milk act as bleach. Honey moisturizes the dry skin and also has antiseptic properties. These natural properties of the ingredients will help to get rid of black elbows and knees.

Mix some turmeric with milk and honey to make it a smooth paste. Apply it on the dark areas and leave it there for at least 20 minutes. Wet your hands and rub it for 2 minutes and then wash it off with water.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a natural skin lightener that will also keep the skin hydrated and moisturized. It can help maintain even skin tone and promote the repair of skin cells damaged by sun exposure.

Extract the gel by breaking open a fleshy aloe vera leaf. Apply it to the affected areas. Let it sit for 20 minutes, then wash it off with warm water. Repeat 1 or 2 times daily for a few weeks.

Homemade Skin Bleach

You can make bleach even at home and they can be applied topically over the affected areas to remove the roughness and darkness. In order to make a homemade skin bleach, Mix one table spoon of vitamin E oil along with 1 table spoon of lemon juice and 1 table spoon of glycerin. Along with the mixture mix about 3 to 4 table spoon of milk and massage on the elbows and knees for about 10 to 15 minutes daily before washing with Luke warm water.

Lemon Juice

You can also rub plain lemon juice over the dark portions og the knees and elbows and leave it for about 15 minutes. Then, soak the towel in hot water and dab over the surface followed by scrubbing action. This process should be repeated continuously for about a month every day in order to completely erase the darkness.

Coconut Oil

Alternatively you can mix about one and half table spoons of coconut oil along with half a table spoon of lemon juice.  Hot towel is then dabbed over the massaged area followed by scrubbing with mild scrubber. Another simple method is to cut a lemon into two halves and keep the fleshy portion of the fruit in the knees and elbows and leave it for about 20 minutes and wash with Luke warm water. Apply moisturizer immediately after washing with warm water.

Mustard Oil

You can also try applying and massaging the area with mustard oil immediately after shower. The area can then be rinsed with warm water to remove the oil from the affected areas. You can also make knee and elbow mask by mixing gram flour along with lime juice and apply the mixture over the affected knees and elbows and let it dry for about 15 to 20 minutes and then wash it with Luke warm water. Immediately after washing the area dab a sumptuous amount of moisturizer over the area.

Baking Soda and Milk

Baking soda exfoliates the skin and scrubs away dead skin cells while milk bleaches and cleanses the skin.

Mix one tablespoon of baking soda into milk to make a thick paste. Apply to knees and elbows, scrubbing gently in circles. Wash off with water. Repeat daily or every other day. Once you see results, reduce to once a week.

Preventing Dark Knees And Elbows

The most effective ways to prevent dark knees and elbows is to keep the area moisturized all the time, preventing the dryness in these areas. You can also massage the knees and elbows with olive oil every day before going to bed. You can also apply some moisturizing lotion in these areas routinely before going to bed. Particularly for dry skin eucerin lotion works wonders.

You can also routinely exfoliate these areas using mild apricot or gram flour scrub at least once in a week.  However, while exfoliating the area, do not over do, as excessive friction in the area can also darken the skin. Do not forget to put moisturizer after every action on these areas.
