irregular-period

Period or menstrual cycle is a natural physical occurrence in the life of a healthy woman. Regular menstrual cycle means that everything is fine with your body and that the body is ready for pregnancy. However, sometimes you may not get your periods on time; they may be delayed or may have stopped completely.

Pregnant women and those going through menopause also do not experience periods which is considered natural. But if your periods are delayed because of other reasons then it is time to use herbal medications for bringing on the periods in order to stay healthy.

Herbal Remedies for Irregular Periods

Parsley

Parsley is considered among the best herbs to bring about a delayed period; it is also used in cases where you want to pre-pone the occurrence of the period. The herb stimulates the production of estrogen in the body; hormonal imbalance could be one of the reasons for delay in periods.

Brew a cup of tea using fresh parsley leaves and drink it 3-4 times in a span of 24-30 hours. Parsley is a notorious abortificient and should not be used by pregnant women. Do a pregnancy test first before using the herb for regularizing your menstrual cycle.

Raw Papaya

Raw papaya contains enzymes and active compounds that help with uterine contractions when consumed. The enzymes relax the walls of the uterus causing the organ to eliminate the broken tissue lining along with blood.

Eat two raw papayas within a span of 15 hours to start your menstrual cycle. However, raw papayas should not be consumed if you are in the early stages of your pregnancy as it can lead to miscarriage.

Ginger

Ginger contains enzymes that relax the muscular walls of the uterus causing the organ to dispel the bloody tissues and liquid accumulated within. Drink 3-4 cups of ginger tea for two days to start your menstrual cycle. In a cup of water add two teaspoons of grated ginger root and boil for 20 minutes.

Steep the herb for 10 minutes and then strain the tea. Drinking ginger tea isn’t a good idea if you are pregnant since the herb can induce nausea during pregnancy.

Sage

Like parsley, sage too is a garden herb and was used during ancient times to abort unwanted pregnancies. The herb has the ability to mimic the hormone estrogen; increase in estrogen level or activity can terminate pregnancy leading to bleeding.

This is one reason the herb is used for bringing on delayed periods. Prepare tea using sage leaves and consume 3-4 cups within a period of 10 hours to initiate menstruation.

Rose Hip tea

Rose hip is an exotic garden herb and its essential oil is used in many skin care and hair care products. The herb is a rich source of vitamin C that helps in the repair of broken tissues and cells of the skin. The high amount of vitamin C makes rose hip an ideal choice for bringing delayed periods.

Rose hip herbal tea is available in many shops and four cups of tea will bring on your delayed period. Do not consume the tea if you suspect you are pregnant as it will cause miscarriage.
