Many people suffer from burning sensation in their legs. The pain you will be experiencing may be severe or mild. Causes for Burning Sensation in Legs
Sciatica is the acute spasmodic pain along the sciatic nerve. Sciatic nerve is seen on the rear side of the body and it flows from the lower side of the tail bone and moves down to the feet. This is the largest nerve found in the body. Sciatica is a shooting pain that begins from an area around the buttock and experiencing the pain the whole way down to the feet. This pain is also associated with a burning sensation.
People who have diabetes for a long period is often affected with diabetic neuropathy in which the nerves of the patient get affected. Disorder on the nerves may leads to pain, burning sensation, numbness etc on the legs.
Thrombosis is the formation of a clot with in the blood vessel that is seated deep inside the leg. This in turn leads to pain and burning sensation with in the legs. This pain aggravates while you walk or adding weight on the leg.
Sometimes deficiency of vitamin B12 may affect your nerves, energy production and metabolism. It may cause pain in legs. Sometimes over exercise, nerve trauma, nerve compression, fibromyalgia, tendinitis, strain, fracture, varicose vein etc may also cause pain in legs.
Home Cares for Burning Sensation in Legs
When you have pain in your legs then you need to take rest. Try to keep your leg in elevated position while taking rest. You can gently massage or stretch the muscles that cause this burning pain. You can also apply ice bags on your legs for about 15 minutes. Repeat the ice bag compression for about four times a day. Control your diabetes to avoid diabetic neuropathy. Also avoid the intake of alcohol and tobacco and eliminate all other toxic substances from your diet. If your leg pain get worsen or if your leg becomes swollen and red or blue in color then consult your doctor.
