Hemorrhoids, also known as piles are swollen veins around the anal opening or the anal canal. They can be painful and linger on for a long time causing distress. Effective Herbal Remedies for Hemorrhoids
Aloe vera is one of nature’s best ingredients for treating hemorrhoids. The anti-inflammatory and therapeutic properties of aloe vera help reduce the irritation of hemorrhoids. Aloe vera can be used for both internal and external hemorrhoids. Aloe vera is widely used for treating various kinds of skin problems because of its ability to bring down inflammation of the skin. Therefore, the herbal plant can be used for treating hemorrhoids as well. It is the clear gel of the herb that is used for treatment. You can crush the gel and apply it directly over the rectum and the surrounding tissues.
Although you may feel a bit uncomfortable because of the stickiness, repeat application at least four times a day. Aloe vera will help reduce painful inflammation and also heal the broken tissues in the rectum.
Comfrey Root and White Oak Bark
Combination of the two herbs is wonderful for treating painful hemorrhoids. The herbs are easily available in all herbal stores and are sold in powder forms. Take equal quantities of the two herbs and mix the powders with any thick herbal cream or a body butter.
Keep the mix refrigerated at all times. Use your clean finger to apply the mix over rectum and the surrounding tissues. Do this each night so that the herbal mix has plenty of time to work its magic. This treatment not only helps bring down the inflammation but also repairs and heals the broken tissues.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar mixed with cayenne pepper and honey is an excellent herbal remedy for hemorrhoids. Combine the three herbal preparations and mix with hot and distilled water or hot purified water. Sip on the herbal concoction through the day. It not only helps improve digestion but also protects the capillaries from getting infected.
To prepare the herbal concoction combine a cup of honey with a cup of vinegar and three cups of water. Add ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper. The preparation can be stored in the fridge. It need not be heated before consumption.
This is a very old and perhaps the most used herbal remedy for treating hemorrhoids. In earlier days pads soaked with witch hazel treated water were used for providing relief from inflammation. These days witch hazel astringent is available in the markets for treating the condition. Soak a cotton pad with witch hazel astringent and apply it directly over anus to reduce the inflammation of the veins.
Though not a well known herb, butcher’s broom is considered excellent for treating painful hemorrhoids. Herbalists normally recommend the herb for improving blood circulation in the body especially to the veins. It contains enzymes that help shrink the blood vessels thereby treating the inflammation caused as a result of hemorrhoids. There are many herbal stores that sell herbal creams containing 96 gms of Butcher’s Broom extract and these creams should be applied on the rectum three times a day.
