These two activities, if performed consistently can help you lose calories, lose weight and become fitter than ever. Strike a Deal With a Friend

Call up a friend who will definitely support you in your quest to lose weight. This should be a strict and rigid friend – not a friend who will succumb under pressure. Tell him that you are transferring a certain amount of money (the amount should be huge) to his bank account. If, you fail to perform your two specific tasks on any one day, he should donate that amount of money to an organization you hate.

Do not choose a small amount of money. In fact, choose a ridiculously large amount of money. You want to succeed in losing weight and if you know you can’t afford to fail, you will perform your specific tasks every single day. This way to lose weight may sound too harsh – but then a certain amount of sternness is essential to achieve anything substantial in life.

Set Huge Rewards

Before you start with your ‘losing weight mission’, decide on at least 1 reward you will give yourself for every week for which you consistently perform your two specific tasks. This reward should not be food related (you do not want to gain back those calories!). It should however be something you will really love.

Some examples of rewards are – watching your favorite movie, meeting up with friends, visiting a place you have wanted to visit but not found the time to visit or buying a gadget you would love to have.One reward every week will keep tapping into your sub-conscious mind’s tendency to perform activities that give you rewards.

Display Your Reason

Many people write down their weight goals on a piece of paper and stick the paper at a place where they can see them. You can do something different by writing down the core reason you want to lose weight on a piece of paper and sticking that near you.

What is your basic reason to lose weight? Is it because your friends and colleagues say you are fat? Is it because you want to prove to yourself that you can do it? Whatever your basic reason is, honestly write it down and make sure it is visible to you everyday.

An example of what you can write down if you are losing weight to prove to yourself that you can do it is, “I want to prove to myself that I am not a loser”. Write something that will definitely strike an emotional chord with you when you look at it.

Choose Two Specific Tasks

You know you need to eat less and you know you need to exercise more. For the next 30 days, choose two specific tasks – one related to eating less and one related to exercising more, that you will perform consistently.To choose the diet related task, observe your daily diet and find out what one thing you can drop for the next 30 days. To choose the exercise related task, find out the easiest exercise you can perform consistently for the next 30 days. That’s it. You only need two specific tasks.

An example of a diet related task – is dropping the fries you eat everyday from your diet. An example of an exercise related task is to jog for 15 minutes everyday.No matter what obstacles you face, you need to perform these two specific tasks for the next 30 days. If you want to pep up the excitement, you can find out how many calories each of your specific tasks will help you lose. However, remember that the most important thing for you now is to actually perform these two tasks consistently – the numbers, the excitement and any other tasks – are secondary.

Take Action First Thing in the Morning

Do not postpone taking action on your exercise task till the end of the day. A lot of things may happen during the day which can prevent you from taking action and losing calories. You may get late at work. You may be invited to a social gathering in the evening. You may feel extremely tired.

To avoid all these excuses, work on your exercise task the first thing in the morning. As soon as you wake up, start your exercise routine for the day. Don’t let anything else be your first action of the day.

Listen to Fitness Podcasts

When you go to work, come back from work or are doing nothing else, listen to fitness podcasts that motivate you to lose weight.There are plenty of fitness podcasts and radio shows you can access through iTunes or other podcast libraries.

Even if you don’t have a smart phone, just download fitness audios and keep them handy. Remember – when your goal is to lose calories – any extra motivation is always welcome.

Make Fitness A Mental Priority

Sometimes, we think losing calories is a priority for us but we don’t act that way in real life. For instance, if you are watching a movie without having completed your exercise task for the day, obviously the movie is a priority for you.

To successfully lose weight, you need to ensure that for a month at least, nothing else is more important than losing calories. Work, relationships, entertainment and anything else maybe important, but for a few days let fitness be more important than them.

You will make losing weight and calories your focus – if you make it a priority in your mind first.

Stop Associating With Unfit Friends

It might not sound that important, but yes, spending a lot of time with friends who are not fit affects the number of calories you consume. If you watch your friends eating fried and fat filled stuff, you will eventually succumb. The company you keep has a tremendous impact on your own habits.

You do not need to give up friends with unhealthy habits forever, but at least for the next 30 days, make sure you do not spend too much time with them. This is important because your will power and commitment towards losing weight drastically depends on your environment.

Share With Everyone Who Will Encourage You

Make it a point to share your goal of losing a certain amount of weight with everyone you think can encourage you. On the other hand, do not share your goal with anyone who you think will demotivate you.

Generally, we either keep our goals secret or we share them with everyone we know. Both strategies are not optimal. Instead, figure out who will tell you to go for it and share your plans with that person only. You want to feel encouraged with respect to your goal and you do not want any discouragement with respect to it from anyone around you.
