Thyroid diseases can cause goiter and nodules in the gland. The pituitary gland regulates the production of the hormone. If there is too much hormone in the blood stream it sends signals to the thyroid gland to decrease the production. When there is a defect in the regulatory pathways it results in either hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism.
Symptoms of Thyroid:
- Disorders are dry skin,
- Poor appetite,
- Excessive fatigue,
- Hair loss,
- Weight gain,
The thyroid gland produces thyroid hormones which regulate all the metabolic processes in the body. When this gland starts overproducing the thyroid hormone it is known as hyperthyroidism and when there is insufficient production of this hormone, it is known as hypothyroidism.
Because of this defect the thyroid gland malfunctions and becomes overactive producing too much hormone or it becomes under active producing insufficient amounts of the hormone.
