Drink Water

Soap And Water

Certain conditions might give rise to dry skin. Cold weather, dry climate or low moisture content in the atmosphere absorbs a lot of moisture from the skin leaving it dry. You should also avoid taking bath with very hot water as it tends to dry your skin at a high rate. Hot water opens the pores of the skin, thus allowing the trapped moisture in the skin to escape into the atmosphere.

If bath with cold water is not possible, take bath only in lukewarm water. Certain soaps especially highly harsh soaps make the delicate skin around the nose and mouth to dry out and make them scaly. Immediately after taking bath, when the skin is still damp, dab a good amount of skin moisturizer in the delicate areas around the nose and mouth.

You can also apply oils like olive oil, or fresh milk cream in these areas and wait for 10 to 15 minutes until all the moisture is absorbed by the skin before applying soap I these areas.

Lukewarm Olive Oil

A gentle massage of lukewarm olive oil can do wonder to cure the dry skin. Leave it overnight and wash off the face with warm water. This is an excellent natural remedy for dry skin.

Skin Health Conditions

Certain conditions of the skin cause dryness in and around the areas of nose and mouth. Skin condition like perioral dermatitis, can affect the skin in delicate areas. The condition is attributed to poor hygiene, face creams or topical creams and ointments that are allergic to your skin, etc. If this is the cause for dry scaly skin in your face, then you might need antibiotics to cure the ailment.

Skin Deficiencies

Dry and flaky skin around nose and mouth can be an indication of nutrition deficiency. If your diet lacks essential nutrients like iron, biotin vitamin, you can suffer from dry flaky skin. A deficiency in iron also mimics the symptoms of biotin vitamin deficiency and the person might experience symptoms like flaky skin swollen tongue, a burning sensation in stomach and chest, and the finger nails become very brittle.

Moisturizing Mask

Apply a moisturizing mask once or twice a week to gently exfoliate and moisturize. Spread the mask all over your nose and leave it on for the time indicated on the label, and then thoroughly rinse the mask off your skin.

Skin Exfoliation

Skin exfoliation using gram flour along with butter and milk can remove the dead cells frpm the area. However, you should not exfoliate very harshly in these areas as it might worsen the situation and in extreme cases you can also bleed.

Try to keep the area always moist by applying moisturizer in order to prevent darkening of the area. The condition will resume on its own once you recognize the problem for dry and flaky skin and take proper remedy at the proper time.
