Have you seen the earth rip open and then getting back together within a short span of time? Well no; the earth gets back together but it takes time. And in some cases (read: doomsday) it does not! Jokes apart, stretch marks are a horrible truth that human beings have to deal with.
This may happen during the years in puberty and teenage years and of course happens when a woman is pregnant. Stretch can happen anytime and as the skin does not get back together, it leaves a mark that does not go away; until something’s done. So, let us do something about it.
Treatments For Old Stretch Marks
Prevention Is Better
Do not explode but prevention is really better than cure. When you feel there’s a chance of stretch marks appearing and that they will via the activity you are performing, then apply moisturizer to the dedicated places. For example, when you are exercising, you know that the muscles will expand and stretch (you do know that right?)! So then apply moisturizer to the muscles that you feel are getting stretched.
Another event is pregnancy. When you are pregnant, apply moisturizer (cocoa butter/ Shea butter, etc.) over the stomach, breasts, buttocks, hips, etc. The same goes for the time when you see you are gaining weight. Why would you do that?
When The Damage Is Done
You must have listened to us earlier! Anyway, here’s a list of things that you might need to get rid of those marks; when they are old enough.
What we eat takes a serious toll on our health and looks. Eating healthy and having the right nutrients will instigate blood flow in your body and thus the tissues affected in the ‘stretched’ region will start mending themselves. Eat healthy with a priority on vitamins like C, K and E.
Keep away from foods, which have too much fat. Drink plenty of water and eat only fresh fruits and vegetables. This will bring in rich minerals, vitamins and proteins to your skin and thus create a better skin for you.
There is a list of oils that helps us to keep our skin healthy and glowing. Many of these oils help also to mend the tissues that were broken or, in our case, ‘stretched’. Vitamin E oil tops the list of magic oils. When applied daily, this oil helps in strengthening the skin and thus helping to reduce the stretch marks. Olive oil is another magic oil.
We call this magic oil because it helps not only just in skin care but also keeps the overall health of a person good. It increases and keeps the blood circulation, in the applied area, at a healthy level, thus helping in tending to the stretched skin.
Other medicinal items which can come in handy when you are standing at crossroad about this dilemma include Aloe Vera gel, Vaseline, massage (with aroma oils), scrubbing and exfoliating, tanning, etc. We hope that we do not have to give a fresh introduction about aloe Vera gel. In modern words: Aloe Vera rocks! Hopefully, the options provided will help you; someday or the other.
